|Abstract:Manto- type mineralization is replacement along strata, generally strata bound, obviously structural ore-control, high grade, and sulfide-rich ore. Jiama deposit, super- large porphyry-skarn deposit, is located in the east of Gangdese metallogenic belt, Tibet. It has been the important achievements of the combination of nonprofit with commercial prospecting. Tongshan (south pit) orebody is a prospecting breakthrough after exposing Jiama concealed porphyry orebody. The proven resources of the Tongshan orebody is >0.7 Mt Cu, 0.02Mt Mo, 1.2Mt Pb+Zn, 20t Au, and 2000t Ag. Tongshan orebody are 1km distant from the porphyry center. Tongshan orebody is control by Tongshan gliding nappe tectonic, in which there are many secondary folds and fractures that space for hydrothermal fluid migration and precipitation. Tongshan orebody, hosted in the Linbuzong Formation hornfels, the Duodigou Formation marbles, and the interlayer detachment zone between the Linbuzong Formation hornfels and the Duodigou Formation marbles, is lenses, veined, cystic, and podiform. Tongshan orebody is sulfide-rich that include Chalcopyrite, sphalerite, galena, bornite, magnetic pyrite, pyrite, and molybdenite. The average grade of Cu is 0.99%, and Pb+Zn is 2.88%. These geological findings led the authors to believe that Tongshan orebody are distal manto- type ore of porphyry copper systems through field geological investigation and comparison with other manto-type deposits. This is for the first time a deposit of this significant type was found and verified in Gangdise belt, which is of great guiding significance in prospecting peripheral manto-type ore for the other porphyry, skarn deposits in Gangdise metallogenic belt. It has high economic significance, and at present the south open pit of day processing forty thousand tons has been built.
